abeZilla

"one of Hull's finest producers"

who is abeZilla?

abeZilla is a music producer and live electronic musician from Hull, UK. While he doesn't consistently fit into one genre, the term "Northern Drum n Bass" has been used often to describe his music which has a "filthy, subversive" sound atypical of poppolar contemporary electronic music.

"Breakbeat driven, heavy Bass music" would be a good overall descriptive term, for those who like to categorise things...[full bio]

This is abeZilla's latest release, the single "I-W.E.S.T-B.A.D".

Showcasing the gritty ambience synonymous with the abeZilla sound but with a more mature feel than previous releases, the programmed drums duck and dive around the insistent "car chase" riff in the bottom end while a piercing synth dials a direct line to your brain.

DODECANDROUS project

join abeZilla on this epic 12 part journey

The Dodecandrous project was initially conceived as a 12 track album released one track per month.
Sadly this didn't go to plan, but I like the name so re-imagined the concept slightly
Instead of one album, I'm going to focus on 12 individual releases that all work together as a whole

These releases will take the form of EPs across a wide range of genres and styles fully developing
and exploring the abeZilla sound.

Once all 12 releases have been completed and released there will be two more releases to finish the project:
A live album featuring the full Dodecandrous project played live (on separate occasions)
An ambitious "mix" of the full project in a non-chronological order (with accompanying Spotify playlist)

DODECANDROUS part.01

[OBLIV 2001]
dodecandrous part.01

This is the first EP of the Dodecandrous project, and also abeZilla's first release for three years. It marks a return to the familiar Northern Drum n Bass sound he has crafted over the years.

Think hard-edged atmospheres, off kilter beats and paranoid synths and you'll be on the right track. The EP opens with effected piano sounds drifting into consciousness before the deafening screech of a siren signals the launch of an aural assault. I-W.E.S.T-B.A.D is similar to the single release, but a new mix adds extra life to the track which thunders through to Road to Speculation. Videogame synths keep the bounce going as this trap-influenced drum n bass number grabs you and draws you in. The EP finishes with an updated version of "...Neurosis...". Right from the outset it batters you with techy drums before a short breakdown. Normal service then ensues with layered synths and FXd drums paving the way for the centrepiece wobble, which helped make the original a live favourite.

This EP features:

Memento Mori
I-W.E.S.T-B.A.D
Road to Speculation
In The Grip of The Neurosis Peddler
